Hamish the Westie guarding The Gate's company car !

Guests and visitors to The Gate are reminded that Hamish (The Westie) and Maggie Morag (the Scotty) are the Gate's "Mascots" and can often be found greeting guests and befriending themselves to visitors in the bar area. They have become very well know in Llanfrechfa over the last year and many of our guests and visitors look forward to seeing them when they arrive.

We mention this because you may be allergic to dogs or have a problem with them being around the building where you intend to eat. We respect this and will ensure that they are not around to spoil your visit if you give us prior notice.

As a village pub, we believe there is a place for the 'pub dog'.  Both are very well behaved and they are not allowed to "mooch around" customers who elect to have snacks or food in the bar area.  Even so, we respect that some folks may not want dogs around when they are eating, so a simple word with any of the staff will suffice to have them sent off to the "Staff Quarters" for the duration of your stay if you wish.

It almost goes without saying that Hamish & Maggie are never allowed in the restaurant.
